Being pregnant makes me feel flawed at times. Sure, there’s a miracle of life happening inside my body and yes the joys of being able to hold another precious lamb bring me excitement. Yet, even still when I approach my closet I do so with much disdain. Luckily there are some pieces in my happy place that give me the reminder that I am indeed still a bad B – albeit one that can’t fit pants. Learning to love the skin you’re in can be a difficult lesson but style has helped me work it out.

For me it’s my legs. While I am struggling to see anything that falls under the bump I do my best to make sure my legs are covered in ash and I try to throw on a cute shoe to give them a boost. This pair of Steve Madden velvet boots are from a season or two ago that are currently standing in place of my desire for these, which are not an option currently.

I found this dress in one of my many jaunts to Zara hidden on a sales rack all by its lonesome awaiting me. It fits well and has been able to accommodate my growing bump which I greatly appreciate. In my quest to be ever put together during these next four months and postpartum I’m hoping I can come upon a few more dresses that fall in this category. Regardless of finding the perfect outfit, I’m learning to enjoy what I’m looking like at the moment. The excess of me, rather than being wishful over my other body currently.

Being a woman is learning to love the body you’re in at any given moment and that can be a feat. What helps? Loving what you’re wearing. Say yes to the dress, sure to the shoes, and go for the new hairstyle friend – you’ll look grand. Walk the city loving what you’re in.
