Last week I embarked on the trip of a lifetime. Along with 16 of my closest friends and my husband I celebrated my 35th birthday in Marrakech, Morocco and I must say, I am still on a high. Traveling to Africa has long been on my list of places to visit and Marrakech popped my Motherland cherry if you will. One of my goals was for the journey to be luxurious and fabulous. After spending a week in a palatial like home complete with a lovely staff I must say Marrakech is high on my list of best places ever. For all the details of this episode of The Hautemommie JETSETS: Marrakech, Morocco – jump right in!
In the Northern region of Africa lies a country that is chock full of beautiful people, delicious food, and breathtaking landscapes that will impress you at every turn. Marrakech has become to must see for many people who are hell bent on seeing the world. I’m no different. While I can’t possibly give every detail of the trip without going on for days I can give you a roundup of everything I wore and try to put together a video for IG TV later. So if you’re heading across the ocean soon, hopefully I can inspire your fashions.

When we did venture out of our villa it was at night after spending all day lounging by the pool. Or sleeping the morning away after being up until the sun rose nightly. The staff at the property did such a phenomenal job with food and providing the best service possible, we honestly found it hard to leave. We did find time to enjoy an art show at La Mamounia Marrakech, where the best in African art was on display. Talk about duality – turning up and getting cultured, let’s be honest it was a group of educated Black folks what do you expect?! This was truly my favorite part of our trip was venturing into the desert to ride camels and zip through the streets on ATVs with the Atlas Mountains as our backdrop. Unfortunately I didn’t get too many photos or videos of the ride because my phone storage was depleted by day one. ANNOYING is an understatement. You’ll have to trust me that it was phenomenal.

Visiting the Souk was a visual feast, I’ve decided I’m going to have to return just to go shopping. I saw the house of my dreams come to life with every stall we passed. There was a gold gilded tub I’m still thinking about, Hassan, I will be back to get it! I did manage to score handmade leather and pony hair mules, a cute hat, and an apron to add to my collection. Not nearly enough as you can see, so we’re going back soon friends.
I feel so blessed to get to travel and with every trip I take I am reminded that so much existed outside of what we experience day to day. What I discover on each plane ride is that the differences we think keep us so far apart on the spectrum diminish when we meet one another. Let’s keep collecting stamps and expanding our hearts, the world belongs to us all.
Have you been to Morocco, tell me about your journey!
be well,
