Life doesn’t get much better than a day at the beach. As a kid nearly every summer weekend was spent with views of the ocean, sounds of waves, and my sister’s laughter in my ear. I didn’t understand then, the value in living a short thirty minute drive from the Pacific. It never occurred to me that a life of tan lines and sandy sandwiches wasn’t something other people didn’t get to enjoy. Years later I find myself longing for those days so rather than wishful thinking – I’m going to give in to the beach babe vying for more air time. After all that’s what summer is made for.

Some times they’re simply for strolling and taking in the sights. Stopping along the way for a light lunch and a frosty beer. Which is exactly why I threw on this simply chic bandage skirt and a tee from my folks at Sir & Madame. If I’ve learned anything growing up in California it’s that once the sun goes down – the heat goes too and it’s always ten degrees cooler at the water. Lesson: never leave home without a jacket. My favorite distressed long line version from Zara is a go to.

In recent years I’ve noticed I haven’t had much time to go as often as I’d like but I realize that my girls are missing out on something that was a huge part of my childhood. I want them to look back fondly on summers, reminiscing on the days spent building sand castles and watching the kite surfers. Not to mention it’s the best free day of fun a mama could ask for!The Hautemommie - style. motherhood. life. done chicly. The Hautemommie - style. motherhood. life. done chicly. I’ve got plans to hit the sand these last few weeks and become the bronze beach barbie I used to love to be. Catch you at the water!

Ciao!

I miss living close to the beach. Although I’ve never lived as close as 30 minutes!! Back home – the beach is only 1 1/2 hours away!! Now I think I have to drive at least 4 hours to get to the closest beach. But that is something I plan to do asap. My son has never gone – so i definitely have to take him!!
