The movie Hidden Figures left me charged up, ecstatic that more of our stories were being shared, and inspired. Per usual Black women had held down a group of people without so much as a thank you and did it with excellence. These stories make me proud to be a Black woman. So I left the theater and went on a hunt for the finest of space inspired threads to pay homage to these greats. With pants like these there’s no hiding, jump into the post for more!

I’m still riding the culotte wave, so don’t tire of it soon because I plan to keep this in rotation. I found these beauties at & Other Stories, which is even more beautiful in person. A brick & mortar store recently opened near me and I’m doing all I can to not visit it weekly. As a branch of H&M it’s a little more pricey but worth every dollar. I discovered the store a few years ago online but recently really started shopping here, which is awesome because I needed a switch up from my regular jaunts.

I scored this NASA vintage tee online, my goal was to find one that I hadn’t seen and Palmer Cash provided exactly what I longed for. I’m always excited when I find a quality worn in tee, they’re my favorite. Here’s a HAUTE tip for you too — shop the mens’ section for that oversized feel that’s required when wearing vintage tees.

I’ve also yet to get weary of the pearl trend as you can see. These slides have become my daily shoe from the day I spotted them, it’s official slides and mules are getting all the love in my closet that used to be reserved for my stilettos. Who have I become?!

HAUTEMOMMIE-WEARS-LABEL-AND-OTHER-STORIESI’m glad Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson were able to come out from the shadows. Their stories deserve to be heard and told. No more should Black history be reserved for one month and a recycled Dr. King quote. It’s time to unearth the moments that have been hidden away and share them with the world.
