There are neutrals and then there are “neutrals.” When I say the latter you may wonder, are there? But the answer my dear fashion friend is yes, indeed. I am a self-proclaimed neutral lover. You can count on me to wear all manner of blacks, greys, and tans. But the key to donning such colors that some may find drab or heaven forbid, boring, is adding an unexpected neutral. Some of those may be stripes, certain florals, my personal favorites are leopard and seasonal plaids. Which why today I’m sharing a perfect collaboration, the perfect pair – leopard and plaid. I am all about touches of style and accessorizing. It’s my love language. And also the best way to take what could be a boring basic look to chic heights. I spotted this plaid sleeved tee in one of my quick jaunts recently into Zara and decided it was a great buy. While I am working to get out of the habit of always just buying t-shirts out of comfort I have resorted to buying tees that have a bit of flair.

Animal prints are certainly my thing, there’s no debate there.

But I would have to say leopard is among my favs. I’ve been touting it’s greatness for years so when my husband got me this gorgeous bag from Clare V. a few Christmases ago I was definitely overjoyed. It is a go to bag for me and was the perfect replacement for a Sam Edelman leopard bag I had years ago was struggled to replace. Good job husband. Some may find it’s print intimidating but I’ve find it’s easily paired with many things in my closet. Check some other times I’ve donned it here and here on the blog.

This is a great look for Christmas day or even other holiday celebrations without going too over the top and still feeling festive. When I start getting those party invitations rolling in from you all’s jobs, just know I be sporting this. I may even throw on a heel to fancy it up for ya. However since that isn’t super likely you’ll probably find me on the 25th in this as a lay elegantly across the couch at my mom’s with egg nog in hand.

What do you feel about leopard and plaid? It’s so timeless and something I look forward to wearing all winter long. What do you all think about testing out with a variety of other plaids as well?

Buffalo check, yellow tartan, houndstooth? If you put it to the test, tag me in your photos I’d love to see!
